Montz former pro and founder of Today we are learning an advanced soccer skills
to increase your speed of play so you can think as fast as Barcelona midfielders Xavi
and Iniesta. soccer video. Description: How to Soccer
Speed of play is about how fast you think on the soccer ball, how quick you make decisions
and ironically once you get really good at speed of play the game will feel like it’s
slowing down for you. Do you like my Online Soccer Academy t-shirt?
If yes, get excited because we will be selling these soon at It’s
a comfy shirt you can wear to school or practice in. We have navy too! Might have a contest
giveaway soon too! For this speed of play soccer tutorial I will
show you the soccer exercise and then we will break it down on how you can this soccer move. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Key Points: how to coach soccer
1. Check your shoulders! Most soccer players are constantly staring at the ball. The best
soccer players know how to look behind them prior to receiving the soccer ball to see
their options. Soccer coaches always say know what to do with the ball before you get it,
but most never tell you how to know what to do. This is how you know. Soccer Drills. 2. Look for defenders, passing options, spacing,
etc. When you check your shoulders take a mental picture of the field and decide what
your options are. The best soccer players always have a few options at any given time.
soccer midfielder tips. 3. Check both shoulders, not just one, so
you get a 360 degree view. In past OSA videos I’ve only taught you to check one shoulder.
That is a great starting point but as you get better you want to check both shoulders! The order that I like to check my shoulders
is my back shoulder first and then my forward shoulder which is looking up the field. football
soccer. So when I ask for the soccer ball I check
my back shoulder first. Then I look back at the soccer player passing to make sure they
are still passing to me and then I check my forward shoulder When I check my back shoulder
I will see if soccer defenders are sneaking up on me. When I check my forward shoulder
I will see the majority of the field. soccer football. I don’t want to do this fast because then
I’m going to get dizzy and not have a clear picture of what I saw, just blurred vision
from turning my head to fast. 4. Keep your body angled up the field. soccer
tip. You do not want your back to the attacking part of the field. If I stand like this what
can I not see. What’s behind me. That is why I want to stand with my body angled up
the field when I can so I can more easily check my shoulders and see behind me. soccer
world. 5. Check your shoulders early! DO NOT wait
for when the soccer ball is on top of you. As soon as you see your teammate lifting their
leg back to pass, start the process of checking your shoulders. 6. Do what the game shows you. If a defender
is coming and your best option is to pass it back, pass it back. If there is space and
you can turn, turn and dribble forward. If you can turn and make a pass to a teammate,
do it. It sounds easy right, but it’s not easy to make it look easy. Keep it simple
and let the great plays happen, they will when you get into a rhythm. Equipment Needed: soccer drills for kids – soccer
videos You are going to need as many balls as you
have, six cones and a partner if you have one. If you don’t have a partner then use
a wall or fence as your passing partner. Exercise Player Can Do: how to play soccer
A soccer training exercise we can do to practice. Set up a cone where your partner will stand.
Then set up a cone where you will stand at an angle 10-15 yards forward. Set up two cone
goals 15 yards ahead of that. Your partner will pass you the ball and say
man on or turn. If they say man on, check both shoulders and pass it back. If they say
turn, check both shoulders and take a touch forward, then pass the ball through either
cone goal. You decide. Go for two minutes or until you run out of
balls. Then switch with your partner. Repeat until you get tired. This is not a fitness
exercise so don’t rush. The main focus is the checking of your shoulders. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Things to note: If your partner forgets to
say man on or turn what do you do? That’s when you make the choice because you make
the choice in the game! You will know what to do because you checked your shoulders. Your teammate passing the ball should not
pass it to hard. We want the player receiving the ball to have a chance to check their shoulders
because that is what we are working on, we are not working on controlling 100 mile per
hour passes. What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: soccer postions
Some things that could be going wrong. If you are getting dizzy and feel like you are
looking and not seeing anything then you are turning your head to fast. Take a quick look
but give yourself a second to see something when you look. Imagine you are taking a mental
picture. If the ball keeps hitting you and you aren’t
looking at it when you recieve it then you are checking your shoulders to late. Right
when you teammate brings their leg back to pass it that is when you should start the
process of checking your shoulders. Even pros need to look at the ball when they receive
it. Bonus Tip! free soccer tips
Be confident and be patient! It’s hard and it takes confidence and courage to take your
eye off the ball when it’s coming towards you but the more you practice the better you
will be. Adding this to your game will greatly increase your quality on the field. This video is an advanced style of speed of
play. Normally when I coach speed of play “in person” at our OSA Soccer Camps I
build up to checking both shoulders. Usually I start with checking just one shoulder. So
if you are not ready for both shoulders, that is okay, learn to check just one shoulder
by clicking here. We have many more speed of play OSA videos to help you. Ending: Hope you enjoyed this Online Soccer

I have a question, just like when you post every other vid. So will teams generally be looking for skill like this, just taking the ball and controlling it, or will they look for talent with skill moves and stuff? Because in games I never do too many tricks, I just dribble and pass, and take shots when needed. What exactly do they look for?

  • Reply Notmeime November 20, 2013 at 12:19 am

Hey Jared, I have 2 questions. 1, do you have any tips for indoor soccer? I just started playing to keep in shape over the winter, and I'm not very good. Secondly, what can you do the day of a game to get prepared? Are there stretches or exerciese that you can do several hours before that help? Thanks for your videos.

  • Reply berkeleybernie November 24, 2013 at 5:11 pm

Thanks, really well explained. This is the most important skill I picked up from watching Xavi. Unfortunately, largely goes to waste when playing pickup in the USA, with most people still bypassing the midfield and playing kick and chase (sigh). The one thing I'd add to this skill is moving towards the pass while checking shoulders, to give one more space when turning.

Hey Jared, first of all I want to thank you for all those helpful videos your posting, they're reallyyy goood and I've already learned some skills from you, and second of all I need to ask you something, I am looking to play at pro level, but the thing is I live in the UAE so there isn't really trials nor many scouts, could you suggest something for my case? Im joining the man city club soon tho. I'd really appreciate your reply 🙂 ! Thanks again!

  • Reply Juan Martinez November 24, 2013 at 11:41 pm

Most players I play with make the mistake of getting boxed in because they refuse to pass the ball after "making all the hard work of dribbling pass two defenders". But if you watch pros they the great ones will dribble and do the hard work and if they are getting boxed they will pass to the open player. I hate players who want to dribble the  ball into the net.

  • Reply KentuckysGaming April 29, 2014 at 8:09 am

I think it's better to play a game in training with your coach giving you tips rather then just practicing passing, because you will learn to get vision in the game.

If something is not going so well, the coach can specifically train that or tell you what is going wrong.

    What do you think?

My biggest problem with playing as a midfielder is i feel uncomfortable because i dont have the sidelines, i feel the sidelines make me feel comfortable in my position. I know what you might be thinking is play RM but i really like playing as a CDM can you do a video on better positioning for midfielders. Pleeeeeeeeassse and thanks.
