Indian Players Suspended After U19 World Cup

On 9th February 2020, the India vs Bangladesh final World Cup U19 match was held. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl and India batted. Since the start the Bangladesh bowlers were aggressive and heckled the players. Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled extremely well but they were also guilty of launching verbal volleys at the Indians. India scored a total of 177 and were all out in 47.2 overs. Then it was Bangladesh’s turn to bat and they had 170/7 in 42.1 overs. However since it started raining, Bangladesh won the match via the DLS method. This is the first time Bangladesh has won the U19 World Cup. Bangladesh players aggresively ran on to the pitch and a brawl broke out between them and the Indian players. The umpire had to intervene and separate the players. Their behaviour was inappropriate. Now the ICC has said that 5 players which included 3 from Bangladesh & 2 from India have been suspended. ICC said, the five of them will be suspended from International cricket. A 4-10 international match suspension will be given to the players. The duration of the ban will be decided by the ICC. An ICC official said, such a brawl is not at all appropriate in a cricket stadium. In cricket respect is very important and players must show self-discipline during the match. If a team has won or lost they must congratulate each other uphold the values of sportsmanship.
